I've heard women state "the government has no right telling me what I can & can't do with my body". When a woman has an abortion, she's not only dealing with her body but she's also dealing with her baby's body. She has no right to destroy another human being's life. Even though the baby is not born, it's still a life. The baby is not fully developed until 18 years old. I'd like to know your opinion.

I guarantee that you don't want to hear any opinions that differ from your own.

That being said - the majority of people are not strictly pro-life or pro-choice but fall somewhere in the middle. There are certain instances when some pro-lifers believe that abortion is okay (for example, if the mother's life is in danger) and there are instances when some pro-choicers believe that abortion is not okay (for example, abortion as birth control). The important thing for all women is to stop fighting against each other and realize that we're all trying to make it through life the best we can with the tools and resources we are given.

Im going to get hate mail for this~ But I know its killing a baby- But i do believe that its a Womans choice. There are circumstances when they shouldn't have the child. Crack babies, Alchy babies, Rape victims? Sometimes it would be better off for the child if the mother didn't have them. But I think there should be a fast time on when you can do it. Maybe within the first 2 weeks of pregnancy or so but once it starts forming that then thats way too far along for something like that. I personally would never have an abortion- I used to think when i was younger that I'd never be able to have a child at that age and I'd always had it as a consideration in my head. But I was smart enough to take the right pre-cautions. Now I would never do it, but I believe that its the mothers decision, not anyone elses.

AMEN- I could not have said it better myself, and I counsel women who have had abortions and/or considering one. You are right children are not fully developed until they are 18.
About the comment, "she is not dealing just with her body"= that is truth- however if the woman really thought about her body, she would not even want to do the abortion for that reason either- it can cause, miscarriages later, women may not even be able to get pregnant after abortions- also infections and torn uterus, excessive bleeding- You are right that baby from the time of conception is ALIVE- the baby's heart starts beating 3 weeks after conception which is almost always before the women even finds out she is pregnant. Abortion is murder, absolutely, and also dangerous to the mother as well.

On what do you base your statement "even though the baby is not born, it's still a life"?
Until the fetus is 6+ months along, it can't survive outside the woman's body, so how is that "life?" On religious doctrine? What evidence does religious doctrine offer to show that it's "life" other than opinion? What about miscarriages?

The tissue that's growing in a woman's body is no more a "life" than cancer cells are, and I don't suppose you have any objection to taking cancer tumors out of people? Both are self-replicating, growing, and have the potential for considerable further growth if allowed to continue their development. And both are part of a person's body. At some point the fetal cells *MAY* be capable of surviving as a living entity on their own, but that's by no means certain or guaranteed.

Since there is no distinct evidence of when fetal cells go from simple cells to "life" except the time when they can survive on their own outside of the mother's body, and everything before that is just differences of opinion, then how about you have your opinion and let others have theirs...
If you don't like abortion, don't have one.
But don't project your opinion on everyone else and make their decisions for them, ok?
You don't have that right.

By the way, the "it should be put up for adoption, there are so many people who want a baby" people need to learn some facts. There are literally hundreds of thousands of children in foster care and orphanages in the US that never get adopted -- EVER. And that's with abortion being legal. There are far more children without parents to care for them than there are parents who want to adopt. Putting a baby up for adoption is no guarantee that it will be adopted, or that it will have people care for it.

You are exactly right, of course. Killing innocent human beings is always wrong. Before most women even know they are pregnant (just 3 weeks after conception), their baby's heart is already beating. Virtually no surgical abortions are committed before 6-7 weeks, at which point the baby has tiny fingers and recordable brain waves. For more information, see:

There are tons of people who want a baby so badly that unless you were raped or it's a product of incest, you should have the baby and place it up for adoption. But I also believe in a woman's right to choose. It's such a delicate and personal matter I think it's absurd for people to say "I am totally against abortion." If it were your 16 year old daughter and (heaven forbid) she were raped and ended up pregnant, would you really want her to go through that and that have that daily reminder of the hell she went through? I agree from the time of conception, a life is a life. But it is your decision on what to do with that life because it is your body. At the same time, it angers me considerably that abortion seems to be many girls "get out of jail free" card. Abortion is not a method of birth control. It should also be a decision that the potential father should be allowed to be a part of, but in the end, it's the woman's body and her choice. It is already one of the most difficult choices for a woman to make, and nobody has the right to judge her!

I also agree with your view of abortion. I also don't agree with getting the "IUD" put in, since it basically aborts your baby at a VERY early stage!! People think the IUD prevents conception, but it doesn't. It prevents implantation. The conception has already occured, the IUD won't allow the egg to implant so the baby can get the nutrition it needs. As far as abortion is concerned, I am completely against it!!!! The goverment SHOULD control this practice, as there should be no room in our country for murder to happen!!! As soon as that baby is conceived, it is a LIFE, and most people don't understand that, and will have to answer to God later for that. Some women just have abortions out of convenience. I agree, that baby could grow up to be the next president of the united states, and women think they have a right to stifle a life. That baby cannot make decisions on it's own, and relies on it's mother to make GOOD decisions on it's behalf. It doesn't know it's mother is going to kill it!!! And for all the doctor's who perform abortions, they should be put in jail!!! A doctor is supposed to PROTECT, not DESTROY!!!! They have committed multiple murders and should be made to pay for that!!!! Some people cannot have children, and want to adopt but have to wait for such a long time. But, if everyone who had an abortion would just choose adoption, all those people who couldn't have children could have a child or more than one child.

Of course the "act" of abortion is evil. That is not the question. What can you do? It's someone else's body. It is also the first step on a dark path that humanity is traveling. Morally justifying abortion is one thing but it is making it easier for people to justify other controversial medical practices. I wonder what will happen as the century goes forward when doctors will have the ability the save an unborn child in the like the 3rd week or something. How will people then justify a life taken that need not be taken?
Somehow I still think they will try.

I just thought I'd throw some other questions out here. Is abortion still wrong if carrying the child to term would kill the child and the mother? Is abortion wrong if carrying the child to term would kill the mother? Is it considered abortion if you do something that kills the fetus after conception but before the mother knows about it? Accidental manslaughter is a crime should accidental abortion be one too?

Abortion is wrong and should not be an option in ANY situation. It's a selfish thing to do. If someone was raped and got pregnant, they still should not have an abortion. If it's going to kill the mother or kill them both they should not have an abortion. There is no reason to kill a baby. NONE. Deal with life as it is dealt to you.
