Many foreign companies are traded on the pink sheets. Many large foreign companies. Nestle for one. There may be as many as a thousand. Just thank your lucky stars that it is available on the pink sheets. Many excellent foreign companies are not. Many are traded only on foreign exchanges. As one of the responders mentioned, if you wish to buy NTDOY, put in a limit order.

Over The Counter (OTC) isn't always the same as Pinksheets. We are talking about the modern-day equivalent of buggy whip makers. They still make them, but the demand isn't what it used to be.

Still, to be listed on an exchange takes some active participation by the corporation. Exchanges may make invitations to companies to list with them, but the company has to make application and consistently comply with exchange regulations. Nintendo is on the Tokyo exchange, so if you don't like the pink sheets idea, see if your broker does trading there (mine doesn't).

(Also, look up NTDOF.pk in addition to your NTDOY.pk, and yes I know that these are pink sheets. See also NNT.IL and NNT.IOB)

It could just be that they haven't done all the paperwork, paid the fees, and agreed to follow all the rules required to be listed on a major US exchange.

If you decide to buy some, be sure to use a limit order. Prices bounce around a lot more on pink sheets than on regular exchanges. If you put in a market order, the price you get might be significantly more than you expected.

They ran out of purple sheets? Not sure, I think it just is what they use.

It does not sell on an american exchange. Besides these and the penny stock ripoff scams, the only other stocks that have a .pk suffix when you look them up are preferred stocks.
