A z06 is a particular kind of Corvette. With the C6, the typical Vette has 6.0L motor pushing 400 hp. The z06 has a 427 c.i. V8 pushing out 505 hp.

The word "Vette" is a shortened version of Corvette. They are the same.

The ZO6 is the high performance, limited production version of the standard Corvette. It has higher horsepower, competition suspension and is not offerred as a convertible.

C6 is the designation of the body style. There have been 6 body styles of the Corvette since 1953 which is designated C1. Today the C6 is the only Corvette produced in Bowling Green, KY...the Corvette assembly plant.

There is also a C6R which is not a street legal model. It is made strictly for racing.

The list is way too long to list here, so I have provided a link to tell you the complete story.
Prior to 2006 the Z06 was a modified production Vette. In 2006 and forward the car is way different in engines, transmissions and suspension.
