Will that person be able to have a normal life? Fall in Love? Be happy? what's life like for someone with this disorder?

For a person with NPD, the best bet for leading a truly happy life is to get involved in some long-term individual psychotherapy.

Many people with NPD live their whole lives never knowing their diagnosis and using all kinds of psychological defenses to deny to themselves how truly unhappy they are. Someone with NPD would never even seek out a therapist until something happened to make them aware that they were unhappy. So to answer your question... some people with NPD *think* they're happy. Others discover that they are not. For these people, it's a pretty painful way to live. At the heart of the disorder is a very, very fragile self-esteem. As I said earlier, long-term therapy can be very productive, though, in helping a person to address this problem.

Contrary to what the person below me stated, Antisocial Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder are two entirely separate disorders. It it true that some people who are antisocial (or "psychopathic") are also narcissistic but they are not necessarily related in any way whatsoever. Many, many people with NPD are *not* psychopaths. And.... a person with NPD can most certainly make positive/happier changes for themselves. It just takes time.

Please... if you're talking about yourself, see a therapist and ask him/her your questions. That will be so much more helpful to you than finding misinformation on the internet.

I think if you did some research on it yourself you would learn the answer to your question.

Do a web search or go to the library and get a book out on it.

For starters here is a search page with several links for you to view.

There isn't a cure for that. It's also synonymous to antisocial personality disorder, which psychopaths have. Not all people with this disorder are psychopaths because only one third are.
