It could be larvae of anything. Contact your local Univ. Cooperative Extention. The Master Gardeners will tell you what it is. You might have to take it in, or send in photo by email.

This service is free. They will also help you with plants, pests, irrigation, soil, and landscape.

It is probably the grub stage of some kind of beatle. You can take a sample in to your county USDA Agricultural extension and they can help you ID the grub. Some are problems and some are not. Look in the phone book under the government listings to find the phone number. The phone number will usually be under Agriculture under your specific county. These people are really helpful and have many experts working with them.

if it is white[with a very slight shade of light pink or red] it could be an earthworm.don't worry it helps the plants to grow neither it bites nor does any harm So just relax!
