I find that if I move around very briskly he will move himself into a position that makes the snoring stop for a little while. The first thing that should be done is to see a doctor. My husband had surgery which helped for about 20 years. I believe it is back because he has gained a significant amount of weight and eats horribly right before bed. Being disturbed by someone else's snoring, talking, watching tv, whatever, is so frustrating when you are tired. Don't blame your wife for her actions (I'm not above a few well placed elbows myself). So start with a doctor and work from there. Have you tried the "Breathe Right" strips that go on your nose to hold the nostrils open at night. A lot of people say that they work wonders. Sometimes a humidifier in the room where you sleep works (dry air dries out the air passages and aggravates other issues). Good luck and God Bless.

We sleep in each others arms. When he snores I just rub his belly and he stops or I shift in his arms and he quits. Once I'm asleep I don't hear him. If I am restless to begin with and his snoring bothers me I quietly leave the room and sleep in the recliner or watch TV until I am ready to go to sleep. It is the same with him, I too snore and several times have kept him awake. We found there is no use in getting all bent out of shape over this, we just go to another room of the house after the other has fallen asleep.

Sleep Apnea maybe the cause of your snoring. Snoring actaully means you ar not breathing properly while sleeping. You most likely have 40 to 60 episodes of not breathing for like a second. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. The doctor introduced me to these breathing masks while sleeping, but not only are they very un romantic, they are very difficult to sleep with as you will be hooked up to lots of wires. I went to a sleep center and tried it...and well I hated it! The doctor then told me I could get rid of my sleep apnea for good if I lost 30 to 40 pounds. Which is about the weight I did put on since my wife and got married. I have been loosing weight and my wife says my breathing(snoring) has gotten better. So Go see your doctor about sleep Apnea and defintely get fit.
Green Bay Packer football player, Reggie white, passed away because of Sleep Apnea. It is very serious if not treated. So take action now.

My live in boyfriend snores bad!! He's tried the nasal strips, the gargal stuff. It is in a way hurting our relationship to some extent.
IF he makes it to bed, without falling asleep on the couch first, he uses his snore stuff. ( guess he thinks it's the only way he'll get any from me). :-)
Anyways, I do take sleep pills, but I still wake up to his snoreing.
Sunday he is going to go to the hospital to their sleep center and be tested. SNOREING CAN KILL YOU!!
I'm pretty sure he has sinus problems, so hope he goes after the tests and get's the sinus help he needs, cause he is a good guy most of the time.

Step ONE would be to get a medical examination to determine WHY the snoring. Sometimes it's as simple as losing 5 or 10 pounds. Sometimes it's easing off the drinking. Sometimes surgery is required. But, you need an exam to determine the cause and options available to you.

My husband never snored when we married 12 years ago...
He has been snoring really loud in the past few years since gaining a lot of weight and he smokes and drinks beer way too much...
I have talked to him and he refuses to change his ways...
He gets mad at me for waking him by kicking him or poking him in bed at night because he has to get up early and go to work...
But he doesn't mind keeping me awake if I am still trying to fall asleep, and he doesn't mind waking me up with his loud snoring after I fell asleep...
I don't know why this does not bother him...
He thinks it is a joke between us and I have told him he needs to see a doctor and get help...
I know he could have some throat surgery or nose surgery...
We have insurance to pay for this but he is too afraid to do it and it not help...
I see his point, but I am the one losing sleep every night and I am tired of sleeping on the sofa to get away from him...
I have bought him every kind of throat spray, nose clips, sauve, ointment, nose spray, vaporizers, humidifiers and throat lozenges...
He has sinus problems as well which add to his problem...
However I lay awake listening to him and he wheezes and holds his breath and it sounds like he is gasping for air or about to breathe his last breath...
I don't want to see him die like this, but I am so afraid he will since he refuses to change any of his habits...
He calls me a nagging wife cause I want him to seek help...

Honestly, I try to go to sleep before my husband. That way I won't have to worry about drowning out his snoring while I'm trying to get some shut-eye! ♥

There are breathe-right strips that you can buy over the counter at pharmacies. I'd go talk to a pharmacist to see which one would be best for you.
