I recently bought a peice of estate jewelry, a ring that is heavily tarnished. It has what would appear to be a .5 carat marquis diamond or diamond-like stone in a high mount. The band is hallmarked 18KTHGFs....
I wonder if anyone knows what that might mean?

18k is the purity of the gold.
TH is the maker's initials. TH is not listed as a sought after maker.
GF means gold filled or plated
s is the base metal, or what the metal is under the gold plate. In this case, it's sterling silver.

first of all 10K and lower is the best gold. The words next to the 18K are probably initials.

Take it to an actual jeweler they should know.
