Unfortunately there is no time limit and no average elapsed time. The best answer is that it takes as long as it takes and you have to live with it. At least you have that privilege.

It depends on the estate, whether it is fairly large and there are lots of assets to realise and therefore the Inheritance Tax needs to be paid if goes over the nil rate band of £285,000. All in all if you deal with it yourself fairly efficiently or you get a solicitor to deal with it then you could obtain a Grant of Probate within six months. it all depends really. speak to a solicitor they will be able to give you a better idea. hope this helps
