I think some films didn't win because they had a politially correct film running against them (e.g., best animated film - Happy Feet won but Cars had a much better story line and animation.) I was really disappointed!

What do you think?

Has Hollywood gone totally "Hollyweird?"

I agree! I was shocked Happy Feet won over Cars because I thought the latter was more artistic. And I was equally disappointed that none of the songs from Dreamgirls won; what made Melissa Etheridge's song so great?
You're dead-on - this year's awards were way too political. I wish they'd just leave the politics out of it and just celebrate the art of the motion picture. On a lighter note, I guess Al Gore has to do something in his spare time - why not go to the Oscars! LOL :) And what was the whole deal with the award ceremony going "green?" I guess that was by cutting down the acceptance speeches - to save on hot air! LOL

Seriously though, props to Martin S. - it's about time - and Jennifer Hudson - you go girl!! :)

I totally agree like remember the year when Halle Berry and denzel Washington won like I've seen him act Heep's better in Heep's better movies they were all like it was the year for the black people and notice how most of the time Americans always win i think Russell Crow definitely should have won for beautiful mind but because he got a little cheeky the were so quick to whip it Way from him

I didn't watch it. Don't watch any award show anymore. Celebs and singers use THEM ALL as a political soap box. But they have no freaking clue what's going on. They don't know the facts, only the liberal BS that's spewed by the media & left wingers.

Alot of questions today are revolving around this subject. People seem to think that if any one of us answers against the celebs preaching this crap, that we're Republican/Conservative. Not true. I'm and independant thinker.

Between the Oscars and the Grammys, I'm beginning to think that awards shows are just uber-PC, self-congratulatory nonsense. First the Dixie Chicks, and now Al Gore? Does anyone in H-wood care about what actual moviegoers think? Or are we merely an "inconvenient afterthought"?

Sean Penn is anti-American. the subsequent time that he is going to Cuba or Venezuela to cuddle up with a dictator i wish that they save him. He' the only rationalization why i'd not watch the awards.

Of course! Everything is either political or religious and since the two obviously don't mix in Hollywood, political wins hands-down.

If you don't think Al Gore winning an Oscar isn't a polticial statement by Hollywood, then you're just another dummy that buys into their crap. (I'm specifically talking to the person that answered above me).

Not as political as other years. Remember Michael Moore, Marlon Brando, and others that escape from my mind right know.
