If she's cut out ALL sugar and has just gone spotty, it is probably just the liver cleaning itself and detoxing now there's no refined sugar in her system that she's aware of, however, there is still sugar in loads of food man (in general) has messed about with so it may not be due to her giving it up. Tell her not to use diet foods as a substitute as the aspartain sweetener used in nearly all of them is banned in the U.S.A and Canada as they think it is dangerous and I think we should be cautious in the U.K.. If however, she's got a rash then she should consult with her G.P.

She should probably see a physician, given that there's no real way to be certain that there's a connection between cutting out the sugar and the rash (unless this has happened to her before under the same circumstances).

If she is pretty sure it's because of cutting out the sugar, I suppose she could wait a few days and see what happens.

I'm a Catholic (not sure what her denomination is) but my understanding is that if cutting something out poses a threat to your health, you don't have to do it. It's sort of like how the Church says that the sick and elderly don't have to fast on days of fasting if it will harm them.

An outbreak of spots?!? Do you mean a rash? IS she a diabetic? Is there a family history of diabetes? Is she overweight? So many factors so little time. As a Catholic myself, I have to say giving up sugar for Lent isn't the whole point. Sacrificing something of true import is the whole idea. Posers give up stuff like chocolate, sugar, soda etc.

It is most likely a symptom of the body detoxifying itself. Refined sugars cause all sorts of havoc with the body's metabolism.
