I am debating between moving to two cities! Both have the type of school I am looking for, so I am just interested on hearing anything about the two from those of you who have lived in or visited either! I want to know everything...weather, college life, beaches, parks, etc. Which one should I choose?? A side question.... Is there much of a college life in Watertown, NY?

I lived in Watertown for 25 years. I have never lived in Florida, so my view is one sided.

Watertown is a classic military town. The nearby army base provides the pulse of the area. Suffice it to say that this creates a natural ebb and flow as the military needs come and go.

Things tend to be pretty transient for the above stated reason.

The city itself is quite dated, and in my opinion poorly maintained for the most part. It is a bit depressed, too.

The summers can be quite nice, with the 1000 Islands area nearby. The winters, in contrast, can be quite a chore, with at least a few days a year receiving national notoriety for snow accumulation or windchills fifty degrees below freezing.

I cant comment on the college life. When I left there years ago there was but one college of note. Namely Jefferson Community College on the outskirts of the city.

If you're moving for college think of what you want in a city. Fl will probably have a more party-like atmosphere but gets really hot and gross during the spring-fall months. There is also the risk that the school will be evacuated for hurricanes. NY gets really cold in the winter and can have a lot of snow at times but being up east you have access to a lot of really great cities. I went to college in the south and can't wait to get somewhere else, too suburban and not enough to do.
