LOL i hear you on that.... we know a few NHL players that played in the OHL with a friend of ours. I am a die hard Leafs fan and I hope the people we do know make it and play in the NHL for a long time and hopefully some will come to the Leafs. Hubby is a Habs fan and he is a Michael Ryder fan because he is from Newfoundland like us. Me I followed Mark Popovic who I met a few times now he is back in the AHL after 2 seasons with the Thrashers.

I went to school with a couple retired NHL players, Paul Reinhart and Dwight Foster. Foster was a fist overall pick but never made it big in the NHL. I have had the opportunity to meet Sidney Crosby as he grew up in the Halifax area. I also know a future NHL player named Brad Marchand. He was drafted by the Bruins and helped Team Canada win the Gold Medal at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Being from a small canadian town, its hard to not know someone who has played in the NHL personally. I know a few at the moment, have dated gals who had cousins that played and even had some family links [second cousin, twice removed sort of thing] play in the show.

Brian Gionta is from my hometown and my dad was his best friend. Everyday after school they would play either roller hockey or pond hockey (depending on season). They were such good friends that Gionta even sends a small check to my dad every month. (About 500$)

well, my ex-wife cheated on me (but only when we were dating) with Peter Zezel (Flyers - mid 90's???). We got divorced a few years ago...because she cheated on me...not with a hockey player though, I might have gone easy on her and just asked for the guy's autograph.
