seeing parents screaming at and smacking young children out in public.
i dont mean a little tap,im on about a full blown whack.it upsets me.
when i was in town on the weekend,i man was shouting at his daughter really loud over something petty, then all of a sudden, he whacked her full force across the face.she was about 4 at the most.there were a lot of shocked people but,no-one said or done anything.including me,im ashamed to say.i feel awful thinking about it now.
what do you think?

i am shocked by some answers so far.its unbeleivable.
im not talking about a little smack.we've probably all given our children little smacks before and we all shout at them.
im talking about a full grown male adult, using sheer force to whack a little girl, no older than 4 across the face.
ive been in situations in public when my children wind me up,every time we go out they play up.ive smacked their hands and shouted at them when they have been REALLY bad,but i have never and would never EVER use such force against them.
my parents gave me little smacks,it did me no harm either but,im not on about that.if this child gets hit like that everytime she does something wrong, she'll be dead before long.
i dont think its justified.

I was in McDonalds a few weeks back and a woman smacked her little boy full force across the back of the head right in front of me. I couldnt keep my mouth shut and said to her how disgusted I was at her behaviour. She started to babble on a load of excuses, trying to justify her actions, but I dont think theres any excuse to hit a child. People who do are bullies who probably wouldnt have the balls to start on someone their own size.

Working with kids with serve emotional and behavioural difficulties I see the end results of " smacking " and shouting, I cannot think of any reason to ever hit a child, restrain them to stop them hurting themselves or others BUT never a smack, it means you have lost control ... Just my humble opinion, from viewing damaged children on a daily basis !

i dont think its right to smack children over little things, but if they are naughty a smack on the legs, in my opinion is the best thing. i was naughty when i was a child and my mom smacked me on the legs and i havent turned into a thug and it hasnt skard me. This is the same with my friends, they were all smacked, the trouble is with the world today it is full of 'do gooders' and 'jobs worths'. they havent got anything better to do than moan and make up stupid laws

Having a poor sickness (which isn't in basic terms bodily painful yet additionally emotionally painful for somebody and his kinfolk) is i think of worse than death. There are different issues that take place in existence that makes the terror of death easy in assessment.

The best thing to do in that situation is not say anything!
I know how kids wind you up and if they was feeling so wound up enough to hit their child in public
My god what would they have done to you!
Steer Clear!

i think this particular situation you are refering to is a bit extreme, but in general parents cannot and should not punish their kids later than when they have been naughty as children forget quickly and wont even remember why they are being punished. so its best to act whilst they still know what they have done wrong or it may be insignificant and they wont understand why they deserve a hiding and will do the same thing again next time.

i think its awful especialy about little things like "no you cant have an icecream". when i was about 4 i was on a bus with my gran on the top floor and my shoelace was untied so my gran was telling me to do it up or i would fall down the stairs, i, being the little rebel i was, totally ignored her. she of course lost her temper and smacked me and a woman who was staring at her was unfortunate to be seen by my gran who said "would you rather she have broken her neck!"
so no i dont think its right its awful
