I'm a Detroit sports fan, and I don't think Ben Wallace should've been booed. He was instrumental in helping us win a championship and he was a crowd favorite!
He was basically booed because Chicago offered him more money than Detroit. He basically did what you or I would do. Another place offered him more money, he went somewhere else. I don't blame him.

I'm not a Detroit native, but the average fan of a team feels betrayed when his/her favorite player leaves for another team. They feel even more betrayed when that player goes to a division rival. Johnny Damon helped the Red Sox win their first World Series in 80+ years, but he signed with the hated Yankees and was booed consistently, even called "Johnny Cash". No, Bulls-Pistons is not nearly as intense as Red Sox-Yankees, but the city of Detroit and its fans feel betrayed that Wallace left them to go to the Bulls. Thats why he got booed. Do I think he deserved better treatment. Yes I do, but I do understand where they're coming from.

Their only defense is that he didn't resign. butthat was mostly on detroit management but the thing that probably got to the piston fans is that Ben has badmouthed the team since his departure

More simple reasoning behind your questions. If your dad disliked you and all of a sudden loves the beighbors boy, I'm sure you would boo your dad too. ""Boooo Daddy!!!"
Its all about pride and honor in the big leagues. Its all about fun. I mean no one really wants to see Big Ben not block shots, then he would be boring. I dont care where Ben goes, as long as he gets 10 blocks a night, that'll help my fantasy team. LOL

i have to agree watching that game on ABC made me a little mad wondering why would they boo big ben after he led them to a title, he just gave up so much for that team and the stupid coach got into a fight with him so that is why big ben left so i just call Detroit fans a little too unsportsmanlike

its normal to jeer a player whenever he leaves unless he's a legend like jordan. look at clemens return to boston as a yankee
