How did YOU tell your boyfriend/husband you were pregnant when you weren't 'trying' to conceive?

My situation:
The pee test came up positive this morning, and I've had about three hours to get through the denial.

I really feel like I need to tell him there is a chance I am pregnant. I haven't been to the doctor and I have not re-tested, but I am a few days late and the test gave a faint pink line.

He is about 20 years older than me, and has joked (half joke, half serious) about not wanting to have babies. We always joke each month when I tell him, "It's official - you're not a daddy."

We have discussed marriage and his answer has been, now is not the best time. He is struggling with some bad past financial choices and is paying things off, but still has an unstable situation.

How do you think I should tell him? Should I tell him now, or wait until I've seen a doctor?

P.S. I'm sorry if this is a double post. It's been 20min and the question hasn't yet displayed.

I was pretty bummed when I knew I was pregnant before my boyfriend did. I just told him in the morning right after we woke up that I was 3 days late and I felt pregnant. I started crying because I didn't know what his reaction would be and I was scared that he would be less then happy about it. Once I said it though, and after he comforted me and the crying stopped we went and bought a home pregnancy test and it came out positive. He was so happy, and didn't stop talking about it all day, telling me how cute it was going to be and how great of a mom I'll be. We were both in a bad financial situation, I wasn't working at the time and am still not, so he is left to support us but we have made some sacrifices, we now only have 1 vehicle instead of 2, don't go out to eat much, put so much towards bills each month and either save for the baby or start buying early. It's all going to work out for you, be happy, try not to do what I did and bawl your eyes out when you tell him though ;)
