Every day my cousin constantly calls me. Twelve times every day! It's very annoying! We dont do anything or even talk. Its just silent hour. Then if I have to go somewhere, she gets all sad and says, "oh okay, but it kinda hurts me" It hurts me too, but I really do have to go. Then she thinks im lying and calls me 2 minutes later! I love her a lot, but this has really got to stop. Anything I can do to break it to her? And please no negative things.

Tell her parents about the constant phone calls. Then I would get caller ID so you could choose whether or not to pick up. Twelve times a day is way over the top.

You have the right, and obligation, to tell this girl that one call a day is appropriate. My cousin used to call me numerous times a day. With caller ID, I chose not to answer the phone when she called 95% of the time. Good luck.

You were lying to her.. You said you had to go and couldn't talk to her but when she called back later you were still there so obviously you didn't have to go anywhere in the first place.

Just admit you don't want to talk to her and let that be that..it will hurt her feelings now but in the long run it would be best..

You sound a little self centered to me too because by what you say here you really seem to only be worried about yourself and not the poor little girl who probably thinks you are the greatest ever... give the kid a break..

Your 8 year old cousin must have a mother, so talk to her. May be she is unaware of how many times a day she is calling you. Explain that you don't mind if she calls, but that you would like to limit it to once a day or once every other day. Time for mom to step in. I am sure your 8 year old cousin will be unhappy for a bit, but 8 year olds are pretty resilient.

If you have caller ID, don't answer the phone then. Like, answer it maybe twice a day, but once in the morning and once in the evening. I had a similar problem with my grandparents calling non-stop.. so I know it works.

does she have an older sister? if she doesnt, then thats the reason why she calls you. She doesnt have anyone older to talk to and she treats you like her older sister. Talk to her about it and even talk to her parents and see if you can find out why she keeps on calling you but doesnt say anything.

Have you talked to her parents? Tell them how you feel. They may not know about it. She seems to be lonely and needs some attention.
