I believe that the ancient gods match up all too well with the mixed human/angel accounts. The Greek gods are pathetic humans with extraordinary powers. They seem to have been picked up from somewhere else, just like the Romans picked up the Greek gods. I think it could be reasonable to assume that one can make a connection between those gods and the Sumerian gods. The Sumerian gods might have been based on the half-men/half-angels from before the Flood. They even have stories about the Creation, the Flood, visiting the guy who built the ark, similar stories about great feets, similar wars, especially the wars between the Titans and the gods. They just seem to be one group of gods fighting with another group of gods, all of which seem to be part human.
I do not believe that any of the gods were the fallen angels, all accounts of all gods suggest that they can be killed, even if they are said to be immortal. They also act human and can interbred with humans. The acts of the fallen angels probably got mixed into the stories, but it is my opinion that they were locked up and unavailable from then until the judgement.
On the other hand, any of the fallen angels would have been said to have been gods, actual gods (like invisible, immortal and unkillable, able to change form, tremendous power and knowledge, etc). More than likely their offsprings would have worshipped them, if for no other reason, than to bring them back. Lots of evidence that the worship of these gods are an effort to communicate with them for the express purpose of bringing them back.
It makes sense that the stories of the old days were passed on after the Flood.
Well, it is a lot of and's, if's, but's and maybe's, but who knows? Could be.

The very fact ppl talk of Gods as angles which have "fallen" indicates some viability, truth. I know the history of Phoenicians has led science to open a venue which states they may have traveled here to America before Christ. That said it is possible there is a kernel of truth to these other reports and rumors.
I believe these angels, or Gods, or "visitors" gave humankind technology at times when the natural development of mankind was waining. Complicated techniques, such as metals, mining, transportation, commerce, etc, which have no basis for a "learned" opportunity have simply emerged as facts.
As we humans grow certain attributes we leave marks upon our homelands and civilizations. Our progress can sometimes be seen as "influenced" by an idea that otherwise has no proof. Much as we'd like to take credit... we call these influences Gods, Angels, or what-ever, but something (or some one!) else did it. Not we, not alone.

The idea that we were visited by beings in the distant past is one of those ideas that can be discredited, and nobody hears or wants to hear the evidence. It's exciting to believe.
HERE'S A CASE IN POINT:
Several years ago, people were shocked to hear that 3% of Americans claim an ABDUCTION EXPERIENCE. Exciting as that sounds, the survey it was based on was so vague, it didn't even MENTION abduction. There were five questions like: 1) Did you ever experience missing time? 2) Ever have the feeling that you had been flying and didn't know why? Stuff like that.
The debunking never gets publicised because it's not as exciting.

Why aren't angels fallen gods? Why does this have to be viewed through a Judeo-Christian lens?
Paganism was around long before Christianity, and really, Judaism and Christianity are awfully Pagan, though they don't like to admit it. Angels are beings seen from a Judeo-Christian perspective.
Deities came first, dude! Judaism and Christianity are merely later incarnations of ancient Pagan religions.

I believe they are real. I also believe there are many things in human history in which we'll never know all the details or truth.
