A tax on air passengers was attacked by tour operators on Monday who said they planned a legal challenge which could force the government to repay holidaymakers and airlines more than 2 billion pounds.
The Federation of Tour Operators (FTO) said it would challenge the legality of Air Passenger Duty (APD), adding if its high court bid is successful the government would be forced to scrap the tax.
Do you think the tour operators will win ?

I don't think the tour operators will win, but i hope they do. This tax has nothing to do with saving the planet and everything to do with raising revenue. An extra five pounds tax won't make me change my plans to fly, i have no choice. It just makes me resent this government more than i did before.

As a former frequent visitor by air to the U.K. I hope that they do succeed. It is cheaper for many people in the Euro Zone to holiday within that zone, no departure tax to return to your homeland, and no profits for the Banks buying sterling. We are able to have a 3-4 day break by air including a good Hotel and Breakfast for the amount we would pay in converting. For example, £1000.sterling would cost 1,500 Euros. Good Luck, next Holiday is in Vienna.

Already the NHS has been raided for medical resources and crew being compelled to pass and deal with them at the same time as our waiting lists save increasing. The same people that levy this tax are the same ones who get three foreign holidays a year. I'd just like to get one ... at some point.

I hope not - government is there to govern. The only way to reduce unnecessary air travel is to price it away. Ryanair and EasyJet won't do this. It's up to government.
