The Illuminati is the name used for several groups, real and fictitious. Most commonly it refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment secret society. However, it often refers to a shadowy conspiratorial organization which is reputed to secretly control world affairs, usually a modern incarnation or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati. In this conspiratorial context, Illuminati is often used in reference to a New World Order (NWO). The Illuminati, or illuminated ones, are believed to be the masterminds behind the events that will lead to a New World Order in which the world will be run by a single, totalitarian government, and a large portion of the human race will be eliminated.

Also "Illuminati, Greek illumination, name given to those who submitted to Christian baptism. Those who were baptized were called "illuminati" or "illuminated ones" by the Ante-Nicene clergy, on the assumption that those who were instructed for baptism in the Apostolic faith had an enlightened understanding.

They had a political agenda that included republicanism and abolition of monarchies, which they tried to institute by means of subterfuge, secrecy, and conspiracy, including the infiltration of other organizations. The Illuminati is a secret society within a secret society. In 1785 they were banned because it was believed that they wanted to overthrow the kings in Europe as well as the pope. There is a lot of speculation on their activities, with their all-seeing eye, they are reportedly responsible for igniting every event in history from the Garden of Eden fall to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy, and-- believe it or not--the deaths of Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee.

Here is their creed:

1.) You must be free of all religion
2.) The end justifies the means
3.) The Pater Exitus ( doctrine on suicide)
4.) Submission to the Superiors of the Illuminati
5.) The Love of ones prince and country (the ultimate ends of the Order).

As far as I know, the Illuminati is a name for many groups...but specifically refers to a Bavarian group, who are a secret society.
There are a ton of conspiracy theories about the Illuminati...but, nothing concrete.
