Around 800 A.D. a phenomenon known as the Medieval Warm Period was starting. It was a time of about 700 years of increased global temperatures.

Just like, wow! JUST LIKE NOW!

Do you think there was a guy in 800 A.D.named Albert Gore who made a minstrel tale named "Thine Inconvenientest Truth", which said that the world would end soon.

He probably attributed the increased temperature to the large number of ships. Maybe the ships were using their sails to catch the wind, and therefore the wind could no longer cool the earth.

All the minstrels then tried to convince everybody to quit using sails so that the earth would cool down.

And guess what? It did, 700 years later. And guess when that was? 700 years ago.

So the earth warmed up for 700 years, then cooled down for 700 years, and now it is starting to warm up again, but somehow it is human's fault?

Simmer down, thine minstrel Albert Gore.

People were not concerned about global warming 1200 years ago. They were too busy enjoying the population booms and good crop growth that is also linked to the warming that we experienced. It is a joke that man kind could ever be powerful enough to destroy the planet. The simple truth is that the earth will be around a long time after the human race clears out.

worldwide climate has been controlled for the previous 4 hundred,000 years (poss longer however the ice cores are confusing to get) by utilising a mix of our orbit around the sunlight and the concentration. seem up Milankovich cycles on Wikipedia for the orbit stuff. As we enter in to a warming cycle (orbit nearer to the sunlight) ice will soften, as ice melts the floor will become darker, and absorbs extra image voltaic, and will develop the melting. this is a favorable comments mechanism and there are a number of such mechanisms regulating the international climate. Carbon dioxide, water vapour, methane and different gases reason the greenhouse consequence, without which the earth's floor could have a advise temperature of approximately -20deg Celsius and we would not be right here. those gases are saved in extremely some reservoirs around the globe collectively with Oceans, flowers and rocks. because of the fact the international warms lots of the reservoirs launch their carbon in the form of carbon dioxide - working example, the oceans can keep extra CO2 while they are chillier - rocks keep carbon plenty longer sessions of time in the form of hydrocarbons. So greenhouse gases in the ambience act as an amplifier to the sunlight's warmth, so if the sunlight is getting warmer then we are in even larger trouble. additionally, the Carbon dioxide concentration in the ambience over the final 4 hundred,000 years has been between 2 hundred-280parts according to billion and so that's the quantity of the amplifier which has brought about ice an prolonged time. (there are a number of ice an prolonged time in the checklist the final became into ~10,000 yrs in the past). as nicely, the comments mechanisms which put in or do away with greenhouse gases from the ambience perform over hundreds and hundreds of years and the temperature differences are slow. we've extra advantageous the CO2 concentration to 374ppb in the previous 2 hundred years - a great huge replace and naff all geological time, so earth's comments mechanisms are kicking in now and temperature will upward push dramatically. this is is an particularly real, out of control test we are appearing on our planet. earlier, popping out of the ice age became into organic and not something to do with our cave living ancestors, yet this time warming is overwhelmingly by way of our emissions.

Global warming is one of the few causes the liberals have to rally behind. They have others, like higher taxes and more government control, but communism is getting too unpopular. The inconvenient truth is that global warming is a political issue, not an environmental one. Ideas like "one random volcano can cause as much CO2 as man did in the last 100 years" are dangerous. There's much better evidence to support man-made global warming, such as Gore's Oscar, and the overwhelming number of Hollywood celebrities that confirm it.

No one was concerned about Global warming then, because it didn't exist. It doesn't exist now. But to liberals who buy into Liberal lies, like Al Gores, that they should be afraid of using their hairspray, because it will effect the sun, causing it to heat up Earth by .5 more degrees, is ludicrous, and plain stupid. Al Gore writes this crap to make MONEY, not to improve the environment. Go Al! You're really making a difference! NOT!
I guess his followers, the Libs, also think he invented the Internet, too. He said he did.

so you don't deny that global warming exists... and I'm betting you don't deny the cause is an increase in certain gasses? do you also admit that factories and cars put off these same gasses? if so then it is easy to measure the amount of gas they produce, and it is a much larger amount than would be produced by humans just surviving off the land.. so, logically.. if you accept all of the above, you accept that we are contributing to global warming in at least a minute amount.. therefor the only questions left for you to ask yourself... are how much are we contributing and what will be the consequences of that contribution.

how did they know the ground temp was rising? they didn't have thermometers then...

The first thermometer was a thermoscope. Different versions of the thermoscope were invented by several inventors around the same time. The first to put a numerical scale on the thermoscopes was the Italian inventor Santorio Santorio for use in medicine. In 1593, Galileo Galilei invented a rudimentary water thermometer (using the contraction of air to draw water up a tube). He also discovered that liquids of lesser density than water could be suspended within it and that they would float at different heights depending on the temperature; hence Galileo's Thermoscope--Galileo's use of alcohol enclosed in glass spheres floating in a column of water in order to measure their differences in temperature. In 1714, Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the first mercury thermometer. In 1866 Sir Thomas Clifford Allbutt invented a clinical thermometer that produced a body temperature reading in five minutes as opposed to twenty

thanks for waking me up. I must have been crazy to think that the millions and millions of cars spewing out emissions into the air would have any effect on the earth. I must have been insane to think that all the factories emitting pollution would have any sort of impact. Or that all those emissions from coal burning electric plants would have any sort of impact on the earth. I feel stupid believing in common sense.

You left out the part about that warming period being one in which the temperature rise was much more gradual than the current one,You also left out the part about that temperature rise already being exceeded by the current one.

Al is just putting the information out there. What people choose to do with it is up to them. I love how conseravtives get so upset about it. Here's a thought, if you think it is BS, drive your SUV all day and night for all I care. I like global warming. It is 60 today in NC.
