I am praying he holds out until Thursday because my parents return from vacation and its their first. Any thoughts? Any advice what to do... Heating pad seems to help somewhat. thanks. hi. i'm an ob. specialist. it your first pregnancy? you sound as though you have stared in labour,, you know it's allright to have your baby even if it is only 37 weeks. the earliest symptom is cramping and the contractions might follow soon after, you need to check into your hospital ASAP If it is true labour pains, . you may not be able to hold on until the arrival of your parents . welcome them from their vacation with a pleasant surprise !1

Take relaxing baths with lavender oil and plenty of candles. Don't do anything too strenuous as this can bring on labour. It sounds like you're in the very early stages of labour and he's going to arrive no matter what. I'm sure your parents won't be too upset if they come home and he's been born already; they'll just be so pleased that they have a beautiful grandson to come back to! To be honest, I'd be trying everything I could to get him out...if you feel that miserable and uncomfortable.

If you have lost your plug don't take a bath you can get an infection easily the water can travel up through your vagina! I would say get plenty of rest lay down with your feet up and relax. Labor can be strenuous. The heating pad should work on a low temperature on your back. Drink water! Good Luck!

Sounds like if you get to hurting too bad you need to go to the hospital...i didnt know i was going into labor when i did...i was just leaking clear water, and i didnt know why because they say when your mucous plug breaks you will see discolored but i never did....well turns out my water had been broke for 3 days...and i was walking around like nothing had happened it didnt even hurt...they had to induce labor...then when i was trying to push they brought me to surgery and did an emergency c-section because my girls heartrate was dropping rapidly....my husband was terrified...but we are all ok now just ask your doctor if you have any questions and if you insist something is bothering you and you dont feel right you can always camp out at the hospital ....lol just joking but goo dluck girl i hope you have a easy delivery and a rapid recovery...babies are so precious

Well there's no way to stop the baby from coming out...But just take nice hot baths, and try to relax and think of other things, ti might help a little..Just think a few days from now you'll have the most precious thing in your arms

Cramping *is* early labor. It's what baby contractions feel like.

I'm sorry you feel miserable. After so many pregnancies, i've come to the conclusion that it's nature's way of making moms so grateful for the end of pregnancy, that they don't notice the lack of sleep with a new baby. :-)
