Any child who could actually sit through and pay attention to the Academy Awards is old enough to understand the concept of homosexuality. If their parents haven't explained it to them then shame on the parents.

Somehow, I don't think it's the children you are concerned about. It seems that it is you who are uncomfortable with lesbians. Perhaps you should focus on why that is.

If your kid was up watching the boring Oscars...then your kid should know or be taught about homosexuality. My daughter is 14 and she only wanted to see who got best actor/actress, and the supporting ones, and the best picture. School was out today anyway here, so her being up late was okay. She was in her room watching something else and yelling out asking me who won. She wasn't even watching.

I actually like Ellen as the host. She livened things up in an otherwise boring awards show.

Oh PLEASE. Get over yourself. Lesbians and gays are EVERYwhere. Your children are bound to encounter many of them throughout life. Ellen did absolutely nothing wrong & Melissa can kiss whomever she pleases. And Tammy lynn is her PARTNER not just her lesbian lover. She barely gave her a peck! Would it be any worse if a straight couple "tongued eachother down" for 2 minutes? There was nothing x-rated, overly-provocative. So move on....

If you're going to watch Hollywood at work - you pretty much know what you're going to get. Inconvenient Whatsis wasn't the best documentary film but it had the most poltically correct message - same thing with best song.

When Ellen was picked, that was as much a message as renting a signboard - and the whole business with Gore was as clear a shot at President Bush as they could get away with.

Hollywood - that's what you get

I knew Ellen was hosting months ago. Did Ellen do something inappropriate? I believe there was a delay so I guess the censors thought the lesbian kiss was alright. We see it on daytime TV these days.

whether we accept them or not,the homosexuals exist and we
better explain the facts of life to our kids when the right time comes.
anyway what's wrong about a kiss between two women?i don't
think kids would ask about that, because Ellen is also a very
entertaining lady. this all depends in the context.

Why would any kids be watching the Oscars in the first place? They stayed on until late last night. Because they don't have to. Grow up!

And do you think it's more natural to explain to your kids why so many people are dying on the streets, everywhere in the world, because they have no food? Or maybe you think it also normal to let kids watch programmes with guns everywhere, as if killing a human being was just "normal"?

I wouldn't see the need to explain anything, any more than I would have explained Adrien Brody snogging Halle Berry when he won for Best Actor.

Wait until they ask and then tell them the truth. Melissa wasn't "tonguing" her wife. She just gave her a smooch. Don't exaggerate.
