I would say that it was probably Franklin D. Roosevelt. He helped bring the country out of the Great Depression, he set up a lot of great programs, such as Social Security and WPA, and he led the country through most of World War II. Unfortunately, though, the internment of Japanese-Americans in prison camps doesn't speak well for him or for this country. Aside from that, though, he was great!

JFK was probably the closest thing to what I would vote for today. Not that I would ever vote for a Kennedy. Joe Kennedy with those ads praising the virtues of Chavez in Venezuela is a bit too much for me to take. He is all for environmentally clean energy sources until you decide to obstruct his view of the sea with a wind farm up there at the vacation home in New England.
