Probably because they don't understand the concept of vacation.

But don't worry - you can probably arrange it so that you will never have to even SEE a poor person, much less actually have anything to do with one. One of the advantages of being rich is you can pretty much buy anything you want, including isolation from the majority of the rest of the world.

At least, until the day they all show up at your front door and demand to be let in.

I don't know what they can or can't understand. What I can't understand is what "A" has to do with "B". If you can afford a second home, it's because you work. If the "poor" choose not to do so, I really don't care if they're eating out of garbage cans.
