I am thinking about traveling to Cairo for a week. I have heard many stories though of people getting kidnapped and hotels being bombed. Will I be safe there?

Hey deary no need for worries! lol..I agree with Mrs R..Cairo is much safer than London..don't listen to the stories of bombs and kidnappers..I have not heard of such thing and i doubt highly that it's true...! You will feel much safer in Cairo, you will find that you can walk out in the street at like 3:00 am and you won't be afraid because there are other people walking in the street, also!
If anyone tried do anything to you, you will find loads of Egyptians hurrying to your rescue..lol
Have no worries and enjoy your holiday..which I'm sure you will do!

With respect to muggings, kidnappings, murder or rape --- it's very safe, you don't need to worry. Violent crime and theft is punished severely in Egypt.
But....as a tourist, be prepared to get ripped off. You'll be charged double, maybe triple for certain things, cabs will purposely take the longer route, and most people will look for any excuse to get a tip from you (you''l hear the word "baksheesh" quite often)
Overall, though, Cairo is a beautiful city, if a little hectic.

Safer than london
who was it told you a cafe was bombed in Cairo, there was one in Dahab last year, sure Egypt have some problems but as a tourist you will be in the safest place in the world, how many bombs have we had in the uk in the last few years you afraid to go there. two bombs in Egypt in the last few years,Sharm And Dahab.
i have been all over Egypt on my own no travel guides nothing and I feel safer there than here in the uk,and I only speak English, hanzle & grettle is a story you bellieve that,

I think so ... there is n bombs over there , could u tell me is New York Safe these years , or gurantee about Sanfransisco or Paris Or London ... in that case maybe nowhere is safe anymore !
But Cairo normally is fine , there is no war , no demonstration or revolution going on there!

Ofcourse Egypt is a very safe place ! It's one of the top tourism countries in the world ! And don't be afraid, I have lived all of my life in Egypt and haven't been robbed or taken down in the street !

Egypt is safe!
I traveled alone to Egypt in June and had a wonderful time!!! I suggest using a travel company, they picked me up from airport, arranged guides, etc.
I never felt unsafe the entire time. Be respectful fo their culture and you'll be fine.

yes, sure am from cairo ,u ll spend great time here with a very good weather this days & i wish you have time to visit me in sharm el shiekh. am sure you will visit cairo 2ic a year after.
