Since when have lawyers practiced ethics?

Actually, I think the distinction between the two makes the point. Law is not ethics and ethics are not law. Otherwise the whole category could just be called "Morality". Wouldn't that muddy the waters...I almost think it would be entertaining enough to do it.

Actually - lawyers have a strict code of professional ethics and have to pass a professional responsibility exam before they can practice law.

In addition, it is required that a lawyer turn in another lawyer that they know is violating a rule of professional responsibility. Name one other profession that requires such disclosure...

They should go hand in hand. But we dont see that all the time.
