My husband and I have just started TTC for our first child. I was wondering if anyone had any good sites that could help me (us) out with information like......a recommended diet for me and him including vitamins and other useful information to help prepare me for being pregnant and increase our chances of getting pregnant. We're keeping the fact that we're trying to concieve quiet, so I can't really ask any of my family and/or freinds. We want our pregnancy to be a big surprise for everyone!

Thank you!

well start tracking your cycles first. try www.fertilityfriend.com, also begin taking prenatal vitamins, you can get them at Walgreens over the counter.

Stop smoking, reduce alcohol intake, for both of you if you do either now. Also remember to exercise being fit helps with the TTC process.

The average couple takes 8 months to a year to conceive. If you've come off any kind of birth control that takes at least 2 months to get out of your system, and some times longer depending on what kind. You only have about a 25% chance each month to conceive even if everything lines up properly. Don't have sex every day, every other is best

I don't have any links but we tried for a year and a half so I went to a fertility doctor to get my info. Remember to relax and have fun, even a little stress can postpone it.

You should definitely be preparing your body for pregnancy and even treating yourself as pregnant w/ regards to medications, etc.
A balanced diet is a must and supplements as necessary (especially Omega-3s and folic acid). See the WestonAPrice.org for some great info on women's nutrtion, especially women who are TTC, pregnant, or lactating.

I highly recommend charting your fertility signs. Your chart can tell you when you are fertile, when you are not, when you are ovulating, when to expect your next period, and when to suspect pregnancy. Your chart can also tell you if there are issues delaying conception or causing difficulty w/ carrying a pregnancy and if there are serious issues which need a doc's attention.

Some good sources for charting your fertility signs: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software), The Art of Natural Family Planning, and Garden of Fertility

First of all, check out "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It is an amazing book!

Secondly, a great website is IVillage.com. It is a great resource for a lot of issues for women. There is a great message board over there: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-pptrying?redirCnt=1 if you are in need of anonymous support.

Good luck to you!
