Mac's seemed to be geared more towards making music, editing videos and things of that nature. They are going for the creative side for people. Mac's only have about 4% market share in the computer world, so a lot of things aren't going to be available such as software and games. Hardware is very specific on a Mac so you have to really check that any new hardware you buy is going to be Mac compatible.

PC's on the other hand make up the largest portion of the computer market share. This means you are going to have for more hardware / software available for a PC that will work. PCs dominate the computer gaming market, so if you ever want to play games, a PC is the way to go. The downside to a Windows based PC is the lack of security. You really have to install your own firewalls, antivirus, antispyware/adware and be very careful about what you do online. This is because there are far more Windows based PCs in the world than any other OS. So an attacker has a far better chance at breaking into a Windows computer. If the market share was reversed and and Mac's made up 90+% then the majority of attacks would be going after Mac's instead of Windows.

So bottom line, if you are interested in creating your own music, editing movies and spending twice as much money on things, then a Mac is for you... plus you will get duped into thinking you are cooler than every one else just because you have a Mac. If you want more choices, better prices and want to play games, then a PC is your choice at the expense of potential security breaches.

The good thing about a PC is you aren't locked into using just Windows... you can use other operating systems such as OS2, BeOS, Linux, OpenBSD plus many more. With a Mac, you are stuck with OSX and Windows XP if you install BootCamp and that's it... so if you don't like OSX, you are stuck with an overpriced computer running XP

Simple, they are both pc's (same parts-minor differences). And OBVIOUSLY being the SAME computers, there is NO difference in speed or performance. 1-2% of the world uses mac, over 90% using pc windows. Basically, something useles, hard to get parts, almost noone works on, very little choice in software/games...get a mac.
There is no reason other then overpaying for a pc, to get a mac. If they had kept the powerpc cpus it would be different...

Apple spends all their money on trendy advertisements.

Microsoft spends all their money on new features:
Media Center = the way God watches TV and manages media. It is indescribable.
Voice Command = I write all my reports, edit documents, and do research online without touching my mouse/keyboard. Just sitting in my bed and talking to my PC.

If you have the $1500+ to spend on a Mac, use the money for a decent PC that has a lot of RAM, Vista Home Premium (or Ultimate), and a Core 2 Duo Processor...(and TV Tuner Card for Media Center...trust me on this one!)

both are good depending on what you want to do with your computer. if you want a good gaming computer, a PC is the way to go, now that i think of it the only thing a mac is good for is a large paperweight. i just cant get past their OS.
