After having my kids i thought it would be nice to earn a little 'pocket money' in my own time, choosing my own hours and without anyone to answer to if my little one were ill.

After speaking to a few people they suggested i set up a secretarial services company. I thought about it and to me it seemed like a good idea. Offering my services to people or small companies such as plumbers, joiners, electricians etc even if this was just to do their quotes or invoices.

I did a mailing, got all of the addresses from the Yellow pages and had a very small number of replies.

In your opinion, do you not think this type of company is required or have i gone about it all the wrong way?

Hi there,
I think what you did is a great idea. I would love to do just that but always had reservations as there are so many people doing the same thing. So many small businesses offering the same service. Did you place an advert in your local paper? Maybe try the colleges, alot of students have thesises to be typed, not always having time to do them themselves. You answered my questions on the cot beds. Hope my question didnt offend you. Got alot of different opinions on that one. But you always get one extreme to another on here. Good luck with the business.
