The info is in. Global warming is happening right now before our very eyes. Can anyone give any credible evidence to the contrary that is not funded by big oil or the govt?

To address a few of you.
Joe it wasnt political until bush and his oil rich family turned it political
Gary the emissions from a volcano actually cause global cooling not warming
Duck I just orderd this book but really am sceptical as it is a scientific suject written by a lawyer

Well I dont think anyone disputes that Global warming is happening, there is only controversy over whether it is human activity that is causing it or whether it's just part of the Earth's natural cycles (periods of warming, cooling).

In 2007, as part of its Fourth Assessment Report, the IPCC concluded that human actions are "very likely" the cause of global warming, meaning a 90% or greater probability.

"The world's leading climate scientists said global warming has begun, is very likely caused by man, and will be unstoppable for centuries, ... . The phrase very likely translates to a more than 90 percent certainty that global warming is caused by man's burning of fossil fuels. That was the strongest conclusion to date, making it nearly impossible to say natural forces are to blame."

"The report said that an increase in hurricane and tropical cyclone strength since 1970 more likely than not can be attributed to man-made global warming. The scientists said global warming's connection varies with storms in different parts of the world, but that the storms that strike the Americas are global warming-influenced."

"On sea levels, the report projects rises of 7-23 inches by the end of the century. That could be augmented by an additional 4-8 inches if recent surprising polar ice sheet melt continues."

Many voices against global warming deny that humans are the cause of rising temperatures. Some do not want to be forced to change their standard of living to accomidate new carbon emmission standards. Advocates in the Gas and oil sector in particular speak out against the need for carbon emission regulation as it costs them more money to operate in a more environmentally friendly way.

In short, it's all economics my friend. If being a good steward of the earth didn't cost a cent for business and people could still gobble up the planet's resources without a thought or care in the world, then you wouldn't hear a peep out of anyone.

Our Earth does not exist in a static vacuum. Since it was formed, there have been weather and climate changes.

After all, we are whirling through space in a solar orbit, which puts us in different positions and distances from the sun. It is logical and expected that climate changes will occur due to the distance from the sun.

Naturally occuring incidents such as volcanoes, etc., can and have had further effects on climate changes throughout earth history. Large asteroids and meteors can also effect climate due to material thrown into the air during impact.

You cannot expect the climate to stay the same throughout the ages. Scientists who study these things have been able to determine many extreme changes by studying layers of rock and sediment in the earth.

The climate is always changing as we whirl through space... We are in a period of change now. I think it is because of our solar journey and the contribution by Man. There is no doubt that civilization has had an impact on climate. I believe our emissions from manufacturing and vehicles, our misuse of natural resources such as the oceans and seas, our destruction of the rain forests throughout the world, our pollution of the rivers and streams have effected and magnified the changes.

We cannot go back to a time where we all lived in caves, walked everywhere, farmed by hand labor. We cannot remove air travel, automobiles and manufacturing. What we can do is use our natural resources a little better by controlling emissions, not polluting our water, not cutting every tree and other actions. That would be responsible.

These things will not stop climate changes, however..We will still be a solar object moving around the sun. Climate changes will occur as certain as the laws of the universe.

We have improved a lot in the last 100 years or so. We still have a long way to go to do our part in cleaning up after ourselves. But - global warming will continue. We live on a natural planet which is part of the greater solar system and galaxy. There are certain things beyond our control.

There is an old saying that has been around practically forever..it goes something like this: "If a Monarch butterfly falls from a tree in the rainforest in South American, sooner or later it will effect the fjords of Norway".

We need to think about that.

Excellent question. I have been on this planet for over 60 years, and we do have global warming. Everything has changed. Dumping everywhere. All the cars and the jet fuel etc. This is not normal weather change.

The jig is up. Even Exxon-Mobil has confessed that global warming is happening.

Only the slow learners and the scientific illiterates who get their opinions from am radio shrieking heads and Faux News still claim otherwise.

I believe in global warming. I also believe a single volcanic eruption does more to cause it than humans can do in 1000 years.

the only contrary evidence is from the scientists that Bush told to manipulate the information. So, the answer to your question is NO.

It's amazing how there are so many people who are so hellbent on refuting the findings of the majority of the scientific community. Is it because it proves that some of us are right?

So what will the weather be like this weekend? I have no stocks in oil or am on the take from welfare, but liberals can't seem to give me an accurate forecast two days from now, so how am I to trust them about a hundred years from now?
