What are the light requirements for gerber daisies?
To do their best and bloom the longest, be sure gerber daisies receive lots of light. They will need a sunny location and will even profit from additional artificial light.
How much water do they need?
Gerber daisies need to be kept evenly moist during the time they are blooming. When out of bloom, they can be allowed to dry slightly before watering.
Do they have any special temperature requirements?
They will thrive in average to cool temperatures. If temperatures get too warm (above 70º), they may stop blooming.
Do gerber daisies need much humidity?
They will do well with average humidity. Indoors, mist the foliage once or twice a week during the winter. Avoid misting open blooms.
How much fertilizer do they require?
When they are actively growing and blooming, gerber daisies should be fed every other week with a water-soluble fertilizer such as Bachman's Excel Gro or Schultz's Blooms Plus.
What type of soil do they prefer?
Gerber daisies require well-drained soil. Use a high-quality peat based potting soil.
When should I repot my gerber daisies?
In our climate, they aren't usually kept over the winter, so they aren't repotted. When grown in a greenhouse, they are repotted in spring.
Will they need any grooming?
They really don't need any grooming other than removing faded flowers and their stems. Avoid any leafshine products. Gerber daisy leaves are slightly hairy and resent being wiped.
How are they propagated?
Gerber daisies are propagated from seed, but it can take as long as 6 months to get to the blooming stage.

I have had my gerbera Daisy's for several years. She is quite temperamental. Water requirement is really high. When outside during the spring-fall I have to water her 1-2 times a day. Just depending on the temperature level. I live in N. Central Texas and it gets hot during the summer time. I keep the leaves picked off as the die and clip the blooms once they are finished. I feed once a month. Good luck with yours.

Are they indoors or out? I always have these daisys because they are so easy to care for. The dead or wilting blooms need to be deadheaded or cut off to encourage new blooms to form. They really are not that picky about water. The daisys like lots of sun and that will make them hold up thier heads. If they are in a shady location, they wont be real happy. These daisys due best in full sun rather than patial, in my experience. They are very hardy. Do not overwater and keep removing the spent blossoms.

I am so pleased you asked this question because I have never had a success with them. I received a gerbera as a gift two months ago and the next thing they were covered in ghost fly. I applied insecticide every week but still lost the plant. I will be watching the answers closely, as I am very interested! Good luck.

Gerber daisy plants are sensitive plantings. I've had good luck with them outside in the Northeast during our growing season of May to late Fall...they require medium to part/full sun in my perrenial garden where they add color and a splash of flowers to the planting and herbs!!! They are watered almost daily and I pinch the spent flowers to encourage new growth. They are pretty.

The flowers will wilt when they have been open awhile and are ready to die. Cut them off at the base. Be careful not to keep the soil too moist or the plant will rot. The soil should feel slightly damp.
