I'm travelling next month and want to use the ATM & pay for things in shops using my Electon Debit Card - travelling mainly to Delhi.

Yes, go ahead. You can use your visa debit card for both, in ATM centers as well as shopping. If you are using a card have been issued outside India, you will be levied for each cash transaction, and the charges are varied from bank to bank.

sue you can, never had a problem with it, i only take my card and a small amount of money to change at the airport. loads of atm's about,, and as for card cloning, never been worried about that, never had a bad experience whilst on my travels .. enjoy your trip.. you will enjoy India and its people,, just be safe as you would at home,, and never never leave money in your hotel room.. room boys cannot be trusted,, but that's another question..

Yes, in the cash machines there you can. Due to the PLUS or Cirrus symbols on the back of your card, which you should find on most of their cash points. I wouldn't try using it for other payment methods though, that would be tricky. But cash machines are good with that card (just look for one or both of those symbols).

i always use my card out there. there are security guards in locked cash machine rooms also visa electron is reletivley safe as you can't pay for things on it if you don't have the cash, also not a lot of facilties for card use i shops. hope you have a good time!

In most of the places it would be accepted. And do not worry the card realted (card cloning etc.) crime is least in India.

I doubt it - not a lot of places in the UK take Visa Electron

wouldn't recommend it, a lot of card cloning happens out there. better off buying some american express travellers cheques
