i cant try either before buyiing since i stay in india

the 00-17 will probably need some major work., Its value it more suited to a collector, rather than a beginner. I am assumming the HD-28 is new. Go with new, it will be well suited to the music you play and you probably won't need a luthier. Something that may not be easy to find where you live.

It would depend on the price. The 00-17 would obviously be a collector's item. If restored, it could be worth $10,000 or more. I play acoustic/rock. I have played for over 35 years, but I'm not good enough to own a Martin. I have an Ovation Balladeer and it has served me well for over 20 years.
