I would have to say mine are "Contact" followed by "Alien" 1, 2 & 3. #4 was just wierd. And then the (newest) StarWars trilogy, except for Jar-Jar.
What are yours?
Thanx!

We're in agreement on Contact. It's one of the few movies that I actually like more than the book. The book is very good too, but Carl Sagan's writing style detracted from my enjoyment. (It's not bad writing, just he uses a different vocabulary from mine.)
I must also admit that I love Independence Day...it's just pure campy fun! Certainly have to give a nod to the original War of the Worlds, it was my favorite when I was a kid. I also thought Deep Impact was a very good movie...far better than that piece of trash Armageddon.
I'm also going to mention The Stand (by Stephen King), kind of a cross between sci-fi and horror. It has long been my favorite book of all time. ABC did a very good mini-series adaptation of it several years ago. Sci-fi channel now repeats it once in a while.

At the top of my list is Aliens 2, but my all time favorites are The day the Earth Stood Still, 1951 and Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, 1956.
The Day the Earth Stood Still Review:
A classic science fiction fable, its ambitious storyline conveying a surprising pacifist message. A flying saucer lands in Washington DC, and the humanoid alien which emerges is immediately shot and wounded by nervous state troopers. A ten-foot tall robot, Gort, emerges and disintegrates guns and tanks, before being deactivated by the wounded alien (Rennie). Rennie later delivers an ultimatum to the world's leaders: stop these senseless wars or face the awesome consequences - demonstrated by a period of one hour in which all the world's power is stopped. The scenes in which the fugitive Rennie learns about life on Earth by living incognito in a boarding-house with a young widow (Neal) and her son (Gray) are particularly effective, and it is telling that it is the widow who prevents Gort from destroying the world by uttering the immortal line, 'Gort! Klaatu barada nikto'. Edmund H North's intelligent script and Wise's smooth direction are serious without being solemn, while Bernard Herrmann's effectively alien-sounding score reinforces the atmosphere of strangeness and potential menace.
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers Review:
Androids in flying saucers give the Earth sixty days in which to surrender. Scientist Hugh Marlowe sets about devising a sonic gun which will show 'em who's boss. Despite a mundane script, this works quite effectively by adopting a dry, documentary tone and splurging the budget on Ray Harryhausen's spectacular special effects. Check out the wholesale destruction of Washington, DC's most famous landmarks.

Hard to pick one, so I will give a list.
Forbidden Planet
2001, a Space Odyssey
Star Wars Episode 5, the Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars Episode 4, a New Hope
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Invaders From Mars (the original 1953 version, not the 1986 remake) OK, this one is a B movie, but I like it anyway.

My lord, there are so many. . .
All of the Star Wars, of course, the Riddick Chronicles, Hollow Man 1, Planet of the Apes (the original), Starship Troppers, and many others.
But, number one would have to be "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

There are a lot of good Sci-Fi movies, but 'Blade Runner' stands head and shoulders above the rest of the pack for making you *think*.
