It's easier to just show up and on the first day tell them you have an issue with the particular trial that would exempt you. They usually weed out the ones they don't need pretty quickly. Make yourself look as biased as possible.

It ultimately depends on the laws of the state you live in. However, if you were subpoenaed, or provided notice to appear for jury duty, and you fail to appear the judge could issue a bench warrant for your arrest for failure to appear. It usually is within the discretion of the judge if they want to do this. I have seen judges that merely tell the clerk of the court to re-notice you for appearance and I have seen judges that immediately issue bench warrants. Would suggest you call the court clerk and find out what your judge did in this matter. If warrant issued find out what if any fine may be appropriate, contact your attorney and get the matter resolved before you get picked up. Good luck.

That is a very bad think to do, if you have a letter from the court to be part of a jury, and you don't want to, you still have to go and tell them directly, otherwise you get a warrant for your arrest, and a large fine you will have to pay.

It may vary from state to state, but if one doesn't show up for jury duty, the judge will issue a bench warrant for your arrest for failure to appear.
