The thing is, when I try and think of words to describe something...my mind goes blank, its not that my vocabulary is bad, I just cant think of it when I'm put on the spot - do I need to work on my confidence or my English ? Does anyone know how to do either or both ?

You expressed yourself pretty well in the question asked.

Just relax and don't place so much importance on giving the right answer.

hey Iv got a great technique. I used to do this before I started any art piece. When you wake up, dedicate 45 minutes to pure thought and art. Draw and doodle for that 45 min. This stimulates your right brain which is said to be the creative part. I guarantee that you will express yourself better and remember everything later! OR like I read in mindhacks. Think of a number, and keep doubling it in your mind alone.

first identify what caused your lack of confidence and take the next step.
You can buy a book about self-esteem or speek to someone who will LISTEN(friend, counsellor, mum?)
And try to avoid people who make you feel like you described.
As you can see, l'm not as good in expressing myself.l know what l want to say but as english is not my native language l forgive myself.
l try to stay positive as much as l can.
If people don't understand me it's their problem.

Your confidence will come if your English was better. Your problem is that you don't read enough books. They stimulate your imagination more and improve your English much more that TV or Movies.

Teachers at schools and colleges think that someone who expresses themselves well, is if you say what you want loudly, no matter how dumb something sounds!
