the ring has an ANCHOR/ CROWN and maker is SH date mark a B mark on it

Not sure about the SH but the crown means it was made in Birmingham and the B is the date -1976

you could either go to the library and look it up or ask a jeweller. I am pretty sure that the anchor and crown is birmingham but may be wrong.

take it to a jewellers they can tell you how old it is and some of them can also give you a valuation on price too!
