What has been the best star trek series and why ???

next generation, best stories, best characters and by far the best captain. Should you ever be in trouble in the outer depths of space who would be the man to lead you through the darknes? it has got to be picard.

I think my favourite is Star Trek generations it had a bit of everything and the crew just seemed to work well together. I really liked star trek voyager aswell it had a few more twists. I got a bit lost with Deep space nine it was a bit like Babylon five and I just gave up watching.

Voyager was such a good concept, so much space for new and exciting episodes and story lines being so far from home. amazing idea! I would not however alow it to be named the best series for 2 reason:
1. Janeway could have been better.
2. And they have made it very difficult to make a new one.
Next Gen would have to be mine. Its funny, still manages to look futuristic, and picard was the man!
I do have to say that i did watch voyager throu twice where as Next Gen only once, DS9 going thro the now only skimed it last time, Kirk i have seen most off... not sure bout it, Enterprise PLEASE!.

they were all great
I spent more time watching Next Generation(my fave) great stories and great characters DS9 was also really cool too
of course, u cant not love the Original series..."beam me up Scotty!"

the next generation for me cos it had varied story's or plots the original was good for its time i mean no computer graphics in them days D's9 pretty good. story lines a bit iffy but sisko was one cool dude . enterprise was good but the ending really did spoil it didn't think much of voyager but would interface with 7 of 9 anytime.

You just can't beat Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Zulu, Chekov, Uhura, and Scottie.
I don't know how they managed it, but to me that group was just perfect, and was never bettered - entertaining though the next generation was...

i agree with the terrorist assad. the homeric voyager was the best (although it suffered from some terrible writing in the earlier and later seasons). The epic parallels of odysseus trying to get home. one of the characters was called 'paris' for chrissakes.
one of the most underrated ST series in my opinion.
