Or can you still just buy your seat and hold the infant on your lap for domestic flights?

My parents still havent seen my baby, and I can only afford one plane ticket.

Only people who have traveled recently and actually know the answer. The airline phone's are all busy with all the travel delays and cancellations, I cant get through to ask.

I flew recently, just a couple weeks ago. Children under 2 can sit on an adult's lap during a flight and not pay anything. If you want to bring her car-seat along for when you get to your parents' home, you can send it through with checked baggage or gate check it. You can do this with strollers as well. If you want the car seat on the plane for the baby, you'll need to buy a seat for it. When your child turns 2, then he/she will need a seat of their own.

I have traveled many, many times with my son from the time he was just a couple months old, until most recently, in January. You do not have to buy a separate ticket for your child until they are two years old. Just a couple tips for you: use a bookbag instead of your regular diaper back. Pack a change of clothes or PJs for the baby in the bag along with whatever snacks you give the baby. Also, if you nurse, be prepared to nurse on the flight. (A window seat gives you a little more comfort and privacy.) Nursing, feeding or using a pacifier helps with ear popping. A window seat also allows the baby to look out the window at everything on the ground, keeping her busy during preflight. You can gate-check your stroller, but be prepared to collapse the stroller when you get to the security gates as it will have to go through the scanner. You will be allowed to board the flight first along with people with wheelchairs. That can be good and bad. The child could get bored if the plane has to sit on the runway for long and you're on the plane first. If you want, you can board close to last to minimize the time on the flight. You also might want to try to schedule your flights around the child's bedtime or naptimes. Good luck, enjoy the flight!

The rule is that if the baby is under 2 years old, you DO NOT have to buy them a ticket and they just sit on your lap. It is not until AFTER 2 years old that they need a seat and a separate ticket. So, fly as much as you can until the baby is 2! =)

hold your baby in your lap...better yet, buy a sling and then you'll be handsfree!! you can take a car seat for your baby to travel in once you get off the plane, just check it when getting onto the plane. also a baby bag is considered a personal item so you can take a baby bag and a carry on with you! also, they may move your seat into a place with two oxygen masks in the overhead. so expect that. i had no problems when i flew to ohio from texas with a 1month old and a two year old during christmas-time.

I know that my daughter has flown with her baby and only used one seat... if you have to use a car seat for the baby, they could charge for another ticket... I have flown alot in the past year or so and I have seen many people flying with babies on their laps! There is no charge as long as you keep them with you on your seat! I do think that it would be a good idea to call ahead and tell them that is your plan and make sure it's going to be ok though! Good luck and I'll bet your parents are waiting with great anticipation! I know I would be!

I flew with my 5 week old son. No, you do not need to buy an extra ticket. You will be holding your baby on your lap the whole time. suggest bringing a full bottle and a soother for the baby to suck on to try and avoid pain in their little ears. Other than that, good luck and enjoy your flight!

No you dont need to buy a second ticket unless your child is 2 or older .. You just need to tell the airline that your child will be flying with you, they need to have them on your ticket.

Maybe could your parents come and visit you instead of you going there it might just be a bit easier, ive taken two of my children on a plane and its not the easiest thing to do!

If you do go good luck!

If your kid is under 2 you can have them sit in your lap, no extra cost.

Once they are two I belive a seat is 1/2 price, at least that's what I've been told.
