I was looking at this site about it and it told me that 30 % of women have problems after having an ectopic pregnancy of having a baby. I'm 20 now but some day want kids. Do u think that I still can? Do u know anyone who had an ectopic pregnancy and still had kids? I was only like a month pregnant when i had one. but they kept me in the hospital for 3 days b/c they had to remove half of my tube.

hi , i'm an ob, specialist. here are some facts about ectopic:An ectopic pregnancy is one when the pregnancy occurs outside uterus, commonest site being the fallopian tube,- rarer sites are ovary, broad ligament and abdomen, one main reason for the increasing incidence of ectopics is the treatment of infertile women with hormones. There is always a short period of amenorrhea when the pregnancy test shows positive and soon there is severe pain in the abdomen and if you are lucky to go for an early scan, the ectopic pregnancy could be diagnosed before it ruptures and even medical treatment is possible or if surgically dealt , the tube could be saved ; but unfortunately, in most ectopics, it's diagnosed only after the catastrophy of rupture occurs ,when emergency surgery has to be undertaken and often the tube where the ectopic is seen has to be sacrifised,.Even though statistics show that there is 20% recurrence , I'm happy to inform that most of my patients had conceived soon after and had fullterm deliveries, even twice or thrice after an ectopic.

I just had an ectopic and right tube removed about 4 weeks ago. My doctor told me that because of already having ectopic I have a 25% chance of recurring one. He also said that although there is only one tube you will still have an 80% chance of becoming pregnant again.

A good site to check out is www.ectopic.org.uk it gives you alot of info on ectopic pregnancies and you can go to their message boards and read several of the ladies stories of having children after an ectopic.

I would probably be asking qualified doctors this question.

If they were able to catch the pregnanct prior to damage and your fallopian tube healed properly, I would like tosay yes but that is not an answer anyone can gurantee.

I hope that you can and if not there are many favourable options. Expensive but they are options.

Yes, you can still get pregnant. It may be more difficult because one of your fallopian tubes is damaged.
(The fallopian tube carries the egg from the ovaries to the uterus where it can be fertilized).

You have two fallopian tubes and thus you can still become pregnant.

This sounds like a question for a physician, not a board like this.
