The nurses that induced my labor (pitocin drip) had me on a fetal monitor, but they left the room for hours at a time. Is this safe practice? I have heard other people say you should not be left alone when you are induced.

They monitor you from another room sweetie, since you are on a monitor, the readings get sent to the room where she is...I guess.
People in natural labour don't have a nurse standing over them, so I can't see why an induced labour would be different.

Of course it's okay. They might induce labor but you might not go into labor for hours. There's no need for them to stay in the room, especially on a monitor.

as long as the baby if fine, there really is no reason for them to be in there except every once and a while to check your vitals. all the monitors that are in the room are hooked up to the nurses station so they know what is going on at all times. there is no way that a hospital could staff that many nurses to sit with someone who isn't even in labor yet.

I just wonder if you expected them to sit there and stare at you for hours while you were in labor?? The nurse never stays with anyone, they are put on montors and that is how they know what is going on.

Yes, its fine for them to leave they cant stay there because your labor may be an hour or 2 away, at least. And they have other patients to take care of.
