If this is your first baby, it may take a while, but its all up to baby now and how anxious he/she is to get here. 1/2 CM isn'tmuch but 75% thinned out sonds pomising. Once you start getting cntractions, I wouldn't wait to time thm, sinceyou've started dialating early. Call the docright away and let him know you are coming to ge checked. You just don't want to be late, thats all. Do A LOT of walking, have lots of sex (all labor inducers) and good luck, baby is on their way soon. Best wishes for a fast and easy delivery! Take care mom!!!

1/2 cm dilated is not that much. You can go in to your regular appointment at 40 wks and be 3 cm dilated and still go another 2 weeks over due. Then again you could go into labor in an hour. It is totally up to your body and your little one. My little one did not want to come into this world. My due date was Sept.14th, and the doctor thought he would be early, and his b-day is Oct. 3rd.

Keep active. Go to the mall, go grocery shopping, go layette shopping, go out to lunch, go go go. If you keep moving you'll move right along. I kept myself busy from 10 am to 3 pm or later daily. I went into labor on my own on my due date :)) And, I had just had an appointment earlier in the week were I was barely 1 cm dilated and not even started to thin out.

Also, go for long walks. And have sex as often as you can. The more you keep body moving and your mind concentrated on other things the more luck you'll have!!

Probably not anytime too soon. I was dilated to a 2 and 80% effaced with my first for 4 weeks then ended up being induced at 41 weeks. You could go anytime now or late. Good luck

Do not let that worry you. I was at at 2 for a few months and that was 16 years ago. I have a nifty and healthy kid.Unless the doctor stated you have to worry then you just do NOT worry OK? Remember the percentage of babies born on time and healthy far outweigh the babies born early and with problems. You enjoy this time cause you are going to be busy, busy, busy for the next 18 years and you also are going to be blessed, blessed, blessed!

i would say you still have a little while depending on how fast you thin and dilate. its hard to say exactly when you will go into labor you just have to wait it out, congrats!
