Yes, most often they weigh different, sometimes significantly so because one baby tends to "hog" all the nutrients and leaves the other baby with a defecit. Sometimes it happens so that one baby takes so much that the other one doesn't survive, so yes, there can be a miscarriage of one baby in a set of twins. Actually I don't know if it's so much called a miscarriage because usually the baby that doesn't make it is still in the womb and has to stay there until the other baby is ready to be born, so technically I guess the one baby is a stillborn instead of a miscarriage.
And why do you ask if you don't give a hoot?

I am pregnant with twins and will not give a smart allic comment because I had no idea what I was in store for during this pregnancy so that said. Yes you can misscarry one and not the other as long as they arent in the same amniotic sac. Yes most all the time the twins will not grow at the same rate even if they are identical. Sometimes one baby is getting most of the nutrition and will grow bigger. I have fraternal twins and they are 4lbs 2 oz and 4lbs 1oz. Which is really good cuz neither of them are stealing all the nutrients. Good Luck I dont know why an 11 year old would be asking about this but theres your answer.

Okay Kim, I think it's great that you're asking questions and all, but a week ago you said you were 18 and looking at marriage. Just ask the questions and stop making up excuses or lies to go with them. If I was a suspicious person i'd expect to see a question in a week or two about how you are pregnant with twins. It happens all too frequently on Y!Answers.

A miscarriage is a birth before age 20 weeks, and you can lose one baby while still carrying another. It is rare however, to lose one at a gestational age that you'd notice, it usually happens much earlier, or the contractions from one miscarriage usually expels the second baby.
Twins can be two different sizes, and it is to be expected, they are two different people. Even in the same environment, genetically they will react to environmental factors in different ways. Take into account the fact that each umbilibical cord is separate and that they are taking in different amounts of nutrients, even identical twins would be different sizes.

Good luck, and it's smart aleck.

Yes twins can weigh different and one can be miscarried and the other one lives

Researchers suspect that as many as 1 in 8 pregnancies start out as multiples, but only a single fetus is brought to full term, because the other has died very early in the pregnancy and not been detected or recorded. Early obstetric ultrasonography exams sometimes reveal an "extra" fetus, which fails to develop and instead disintegrates and vanishes. This is known as vanishing twin syndrome.

Miscarried twin
Occasionally, a female will suffer a miscarriage early in pregnancy, yet the pregnancy will continue; one twin was miscarried but the other was able to be carried to term. This occurrence is similar to the vanishing twin syndrome

Twins can be different weights, and usually are. One is sometimes the bigger one, and the other one the smaller one. One can be miscarried, or stillborn, depending. But to answer both questions, yes. Because they are 2 different lives swimming together, one can live and be healthy, and the other can be weaker and die. This isn't common, nowadays, but it still can happen.
