I actually did not watch them as Hollywood snubs everyone I like every year so this is not a surprise he lost last night BUT I think he should have won years ago for playing the overweight loveable Sherman Klump in the first Nutty Professor movie. That scene in the bar when Chapelle is humiliating him in front of his girl (Jada Pinkett) made me cry....and it was Eddie's acting ability in that scene that made me cry.....Does anybody else remember that scene and did it make you tear up too?

"Everyone" (including Alan Arkin, I think) thought Eddie Murphy would win. I think he gets a bad rap because he is mostly a smart aleck comedian. Sometimes he doesn't come off as too sincere. I didn't see any of the movies so I can't really judge whether he should have won. But, I remember that scene you are talking about and it was great!

Sorry, I have to disagree. I think a lot of the winners were actually not winners at all. Hollywood is filled with really bad movie scripts these days. What happened to the days where the actors were given a script..and it was up to them to pull it off? Why is there a need to have all the 'extra' stuff from the make-up department? What would happen if Hollywood went back to great stories and excellent actors? Like 'Out of Africa'? That's just one. I'm tried of all the fluff. They are lowering viewers intelligence by the crap they are putting out these days. I thought it was terribly sad that The Illusionist wasn't nominated for more categories. It only won in one. Sad.....

He should have won an oscar for the interview with Bawa Wawers before oscars... and forget it about the Klump crap... no one wins oscars for comedies... that just doesn't happen... and Jerry Lewis was the only decent nutty professor.

I really wanted him to win, but the winner did a good job in Little Miss Sunshine.
