The War Years. Yet the 1940s saw many changes. In 1940, the Great Depression was still having its effect. Then came World War II. Then the dropping on the Atomic Bomb. Then the Cold War started with Russia. In 1947, the suburbs were born with the building of Levittown. Then TV started to appear in the homes in the late 1940s. The 40s saw so many changes and major historical events, Regardless it is still known as the War Years.
