My brother is heading to Cincinnati for the next 6 months for a job. He will be working in Mason. What kind of area is that? We were going to try and find him a furnished apartment in the Mason area-do these exist? He does not know anyone in Cincinnati either. Where could he go to meet people? He is a single white male, 26 years old. Any tips or suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I live about 5 minutes from Mason. Mason is considered a "high end" suburb of Cincinnati- lots of professional people, higher than average home prices and wages, etc. Its a nice, growing town. It also has Kings Island (a large Amusement park) in it, and the Great Wolf Lodge (indoor waterpark), The Beach (outdoor water park), and a large Tennis Center, where one of the ATP stops is every year (most of the big Tennis Pro's come to this stop, and they have added a women's tournament- its supposed to be a near major status in the next couple of years). So its a decent town. He should consider joining the Mason Rec Center. Its a good place to work out, they have nice pools, etc. A lot of people belong there, so- it might be a good place for meeting people. Ill tell you, the nightlife in Cincy and its suburbs isnt great, and neither is the singles scene. So if he's interested in that, he probably will have to work at it a little harder than normal. Also, Mason isnt real far from downtown Cincy (30 or so minutes, depending on where he ends up), so the Bengals and Reds are always good places to go as well. Reds tickets are easy to come by, Bengals are a bit harder. And yes, there should be a good number of furnished apartments in both the Mason and Blue Ash areas (Blue Ash is another suburb, just to the North of Mason), because both of them have quite a few office type jobs in the area where people would need that kind of thing. I dont think that Liberty Township or West Chester have that as much, but they are just to the West of Mason, and are both nice areas if he does happen to find one there. If you have any specific questions, feel free to drop me an email, I know the area very well.

I'm incredibly familiar with Mason. Mason is a GROWING area. Traffic gets pretty nasty. The social scene is non-existent in Mason. Work will probably be the best place for him to meet friends. Being young and single in the Northern Cincinnati area can be pretty rough, but there are A LOT of good places to eat in every price range, and there is a lot of places to go (just not bars/clubs). It's a very conservative area. The people are really nice though. Mason caters to the young family more than the single person. Blue Ash is south of Mason.

I grew up in Cincinnati. Mason is a very nice suburban area with good schools and recreation. Being single and 26 I would not want to live there though. I would live in Oakley, Hyde Park, Mt. Lookout area and commute to Mason. These areas are a lot more fun and will have a younger crowd, good bars, restaurants, etc. Good luck

I live in Atlanta now, but was born and raised in the Cinci/NKY area. Mason is your average corporate area - it's mostly corporations, not much else. If you do a Google search for furnished apartments in Mason, OH a lot of listings for corporate apartments pop up because that's where a lot of the people work who are temporarily assigned to the Cinci area.

As for meeting people, Cincy people in general are pretty friendly. I'm not sure what your brother likes to do, but people his age in Cinci usually go to bars or restaurants. He'll probably meet people at his work who are like-minded and be able to go out with them. Though, it's kind of weird because people there tend to have grown up with each other - so it can be a little hard to break into a clique (when people in Cincy ask you where you went to school, they mean high school - strange, huh?). I'm sure he'll be fine. People not from Cincinnati tend to like it much more than people who never left.

I live near where you are moving. Mason is a small nice town near the greastest amusement park around. The park is Kings Island! Cincinnati is about 35 min from Mason and is expensive to live there and the crime rate is high. As for a furnished apartment...don't know about that. He can call us for friends....We love meeting new people. Our web site is www.ThePoolToyStore.com and our phone number is there and e-mail too.

If somebody says, "please" to you, that means they didn't hear what you were saying. Also get used to hearing "Jeezle Petes"! to describe excitement or frustration. I am from the East Coast originally, and lived there for 2 years. That was 8 years ago and I still say it! I must admit that I liked it...and Cincinnati is one of my favorite cities.
