Yes, I agree. They are paid very well, and that should be it. I think it's a vanity thing. Besides that......very few movies are even that good any more.

It would be hard to think of an awards show for non celebrities, given that the common Joe off the street doesnt do anything noteworthy. If they did anything worth talking about, they would become a celebrity. Its a bit of a paradox. Besides, even if there was a way, nobody would watch because nobody cares about the day to day lives of average folks.

uh, yeah! The golden globes followed by the grammys then the oscars. Yeah the one in the middle is music but they seem to crossover quite a bit.
If I had that many people swooning over me and standing in line to pat me on the back and hand me a $71k swag bag, I'd probably be all for award shows.
The real question is...why does the American public care so darn much? Is it because we don't have royalty??

Funny I was thinking about that last night. Here you have a bunch of rich people who have true talent, but are not drug tested regularly like most jobs, Can get on stage and joke about their drug history and recieve awards like the "perfect attendence award" at school. I mean they recieve thousands of dollars for their performances why do they need award shows???? Better yet why does it matter what they wore? I for one, could care less.

Heck, yeah. I mean, they do a good job entertaining people and all but I think that they only deserve so much recognition and anything over one award show is just pushing it. Maybe I'm just jealous that they don't have any award shows for receptionists.

YES-YES-YES!! Like they aren't paid enough as a reward. I thing there should be only one for movies, one for TV, and one for music.....end of story. Wht do they keep making up new ones?? They probably are doing it because they make so much money from sponsors, that they are getting greedy. Hey, I work hard too! When are they going to have the blue collar workers award show?......................"And the BCA (blue collar award) goes to.................so and so in human resources!!!"

Yes, absolutely. I'm tired of having to hear all about them patting themselves on the back and telling each other (and themselves) how wonderful they are.
It's the media's fault. They saturate the "news" with this crap, so we have to pay attention.

no sometimes i don't think people get the recognition they deserve. I think that each show has a purpose so they don't bother me. most times I don't even watch them.
