I am a Chinese that live in Beijing and by looking at questions on this website I am shocked(and amused) by the lies that people are posting about China.
Base on what they are writeing, I don't think they had even been to China before making them up, here are some more common ones:

(1) China is able to manufacture products at cheap price becuse we pay our people with rice and we are using slave labor.

I live in China and I can tell you that this is not ture. The reson our products are cheap is becuase we Chinese people are hand working people and skilled workers. We are willing to work for long hour with low pay. Slave labor is in history books.

(2) Religions are outlawed in China and you will get killed if you you are religiose.

Come on, you think we are still on the 60's? In China you are free to belive anything you want!

(3) China Killed all dogs before 2008 Olympic.

This is just a demonizing attempt by people that don't like China. I own a dog in Beijing and it is fine!

Countinue...
(4)China censored every outside information.

This is also not ture. After all I can come to this website and post questions! We can watch TV progrems from other nations like CNN, AXN and even some shows from Taiwan. They cost lots of money but at lease we can watch it.

(5). China is doing forced abortion to lower the population.

It is ture that in China we have a one child law. But we don't do forced abortion! And you can have many children but you need to pay more taxs.

(6) China is still under a planned econmy.

This is WRONG!!! In China we have a free market econmy just like the US. We have stock exchanges, video game shops, KFCs and super market everywhere! If you call thisplanned econmy then so is the US.

hyperion_monk, it is amuseing to read your answer. Funny, base on what you are writting I don't think you have even been to China. So, someone that never been to China is now censureing someone that is liveing there to be lieing... Strange.
By the way, by reading your answered questions, you are calling people that are telling the true to be "commie propagandists" when you unwilling to listen. I wonder who is brain washed here?
By the way, you want evidence that i live in Beijing? Fine. The headline of China Daily(the nationsl english newspaper) in February 14 2007 was "Nation faces higher risk of floods and drought". Is this good enough for you?

Hi there!

I actually lived in China for a brief period of time and I saw private businesses springing up left right and center. Economically, China is moving to a much more free market oriented system. The government is still known as a "Communist" government, but its economic systems is anything BUT.

I think the reason you have people talking about Communism has more to do with lingering cold war era tension mixed with good old fashioned ignorance.

As far as the social goes, Chinese people today enjoy many more personal freedoms than their predecessors did, but there is still much secrecy within the upper levels of the government which make most people in America uneasy. However, in light of the current administration today, it would be pretty hypocritical of US to accuse the Chinese gov. of secrecy and human rights abuse.

Thanks for sharing your views, it always helps to have an insider come on and try and shoot down the prevailing myths. I would really love more communication between our two countries! :-)

particular, China is now an financial hub. i think of it extremely is because of fact maximum persons in basic terms regurgitate what the media and the government have informed them. in fact, communism has by no potential existed. it extremely is an theory, a theory. it is so organic that mankind has by no potential been waiting to create a real "communist" state. China has tried to create one, in spite of the undeniable fact that it of course did no longer artwork out. so as that they adapted. Now i might classify China as a capitalistic autocratic republic. maximum persons in basic terms desire to concentration on Tibet, censorship, and the bloodbath at Tiananmen. They have been/are undesirable particular. the government could (have) surely tried different techniques. particular China isn't a democracy in any respect. however the popular public of the a million.6+ billion human beings tolerate it because of fact top now, China's doing nicely. there's a wish that interior the destiny, the rustic's infrastructure would be completely accomplished and better, that the corruption occurring would be controlled and eradicated, that the financial gadget turns into solid and sustainable (particular, it extremely is starting to be, yet is it solid? no longer in all danger), and the inhabitants would be decrease than administration. think of roughly it this way: If China weren't doing a solid pastime, might such quite a few chinese language human beings have as lots delight as they do now? (and don't communicate approximately censorship, you may no longer probably censor something as huge as Tiananmen or Tibet) additionally, maximum human beings do no longer positioned their own background in attitude.

The government of China is still communist. They claim to be, so who would know better than them? The population cannot vote for their leaders, and the government can clamp down on them anytime they want, like they did in Tiananmen Square (there are still people in jail for just protesting). The economic situation makes it more difficult for the government to supress rights at the moment, but they could be just biding their time. They're flooding our markets with products at below cost, which can only mean they're trying to drive out our local manufacturers, but for what end?

You said it yourself:
"We are willing to work for long hour with low pay." Not slavery, but close to it.

"(2) Religions are outlawed in China and you will get killed if you you are religiose."
I can't speak for all religions, but as for the Roman Catholic Church, the government refuses to allow free worship and tries to appoint men as bishops in the church, when that is none of the government's business. So the CHINESE Government Catholic Church exists, but it is a scab institution.

As for the dogs, I'd give you more credit if you would kill all the dogs. They are infestations.

Quick answer: Human ignorance. But more so, people will believe anything they hear...especially if it's shocking and sensational. Most Americans are incredibly inattentive to matters outside of America and not only make irrational generalizations about OTHER places but about people and places here in America too. It's good that you posted some reality, but people will never stop making up stupid stories...or listening to them. I hope i get to visit China sometime! HaHa ( ^_^)

Uh,nice bit of propaganda there.

The communist Party is the only political party allowed in your country. No others are allowed.I think that qualifies China as communist.

China has been cited time and again as being one the worst,if not the worst, abusers of labor in the world by the WTO,Amnesty International and others.

China has and does jail human rights activists on a regular basis, including many that push for religious reform. It is considered the worst abuser of human rights in modern times by many groups, including again,Amnesty International.

I know you are censored on what you read and see on the internet(which kind of makes me doubt you're in Beijing),but plenty of us have seen the videos of teenage girls being executed in groups of six at a time. What kind os nation shoots children in the back of the head in public?Don't sound like a democracy to me,pal.
