Go to your local county court and ask for the appropriate forms. You will be directed to the correct office. Fill them in pay the cost and they do the rest. The best way is to inform your ex girl friend what you are doing and she might then pay up and avoid all this problem. Explain to her that if she loses she will have to pay costs and she will also then have a County Court judgement against her which will stop her from getting loans or any credit for many years to come. Getting a judgement though does not mean that she will pay up and the next step is bailiffs to collect goods to the value of the debt and there are then even more cost to pay,

Either go to your County Court, or phone them and ask for the form to apply to the Small Claims Court for a judgement. The form is easy to complete - you send it back with your evidence and the fee and they list it for hearing. You can also apply for the Court fee to be included in the judgement.
If your ex does not pay up under threat of the Court, the case goes to Court and you hopefully obtain judgement. Actually enforcing the judgement might be another matter however!

Most of these courts are people-friendly---meaning you do not need a lawyer and they have pre-printed forms. Go to the Court and get the form. It's easy to fill out. They just want you to tell them briefly what your lawsuit is about. Then you take a copy of the complaint you filed to a process server or your local sheriff. I don't know the filing fee with the court since I don't know where you live. It's $60 in my state and service of process costs about $25-50 depending on how hard she is to find. If you win, these costs are part of the judgment in your favor.

just please know up front, even tho you may win the judgement, you still may not get your money. My b/f sued his ex g/f for $ that she owed him (and it was not a small claim) and he never saw a dime of it.
