At the Ugandan set, we were offered $20 a day and for that we had to show up at 5:30am and hang around all day in case we were needed. Our refreshments consisted of a cup of black tea and a bun while the "oscar winning crew" had a full buffet.
Some people say I missed being a part of history. Did I?

Well, you were just an extra, almost. You denied yourself the right to say in the future, "I was in 'Last King of Scotland'" but if the working conditions weren't right for you, that's fine. It's not a big role, any extra. You don't even know if you would have had significant screentime.

I don't think you did.

Yes, the film was great, in fact I enjoyed it alot, but if you stood up for what you believed in, you did not miss out on being a part of history. History had already been made by the people who were there at the time. I rather think you stood up for those people by your actions, and not allowing yourself to be exploited.

I dont know about missing being a part of history but it was an exciting opportunity to be in such a successful movie. Had you anything better to do with your time?

Well i would've taken a book, my mp3 player and mingled with other people from the set and carried some snacks in my bad...i reckon it would've been a good opportunity for you...not for the fame or anything but just for the experience.

i think i would have done it anyway, but the money is awful. at harry potter i got paid £70 a day (about $120) and the days were shorter, so I doubt you would have been happy, espcecially as it's a crap film! And hey, you might not even have been seen anyway.

nah not really, that's not worth getting out of bed for, let alone hanging round all day. make your time your own and never play second fiddle to anyone else's tune. you did the right thing!
